ANNA ARBOR, Mich. - Seven Michigan State football players were charged last month in a postgame melee in the Michigan Stadium tunnel, according to a release Wednesday from the Michigan District Attorney's Office in Washington.

The most serious charge has been brought against Harry Crump, who has been charged with a felony. The other six were charged with misdemeanors; five with aggravated assault and one with assault and battery.
Seven Spartans Charged In Michigan Tunnel Incident
The incident occurred on October 29, when several members of the Michigan State football team roughed up two Michigan players.
"We at the University of Michigan appreciate the thoughtful and deliberate approach of the Washtenaw County District Attorney's Office to this unfortunate incident," Michigan President Santa J. Ono said in a statement. "We also want to express our concern for all the players involved, especially those who were injured. The University of Michigan will continue to cooperate fully with any further review of this matter."

Michigan State coach Mel Tucker suspended eight players for their role in the melee, including Malcolm Jones, who has not been charged with a crime.

Green suffered a concussion that sidelined him for the game before playing again in Michigan's 34-3 win over Nebraska.

Ann Arbor, Mich. – A group of Michigan State players appeared to attack at least one Michigan football player in the Michigan Stadium tunnel Saturday night after Michigan State beat Michigan State in the Big House.
Video posted by several reporters showed a dozen Spartans players fighting at least one Michigan player in the postgame tunnel.
"Two of our players got tackled. Watched the only video, 10-on-1. Pretty bad," Harbaugh said before being joined by Michigan AD Warde Manuel.

"I'll let our athletic director discuss it with the authorities. It seems pretty open and shut. One of our players has a nose injury, it could be a broken nose. Just very unfortunate," Harbaugh added.
"For the other team to grab a player and do what they did is completely and utterly unacceptable. That's not what a rivalry should be about or how it should be remembered. I'll let law enforcement take care of that from now on," Manuel said.
Michigan State coach Mel Tucker said he did not know what happened in the tunnel and would not comment.
"I know it was a heated game. Things got heated. We're trying to get our guys in the locker room. We're going to have to figure out what happened," Tucker said.

"There is no provocation that can justify the behavior we see in the videos. Rivalry can be intense, but it should never be violent. The University of Michigan is working with Michigan State University Police and University of Michigan Athletics to investigate the postgame incident. University of Michigan Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact Detective Lt. Paul DeRider at paulderi@umich.edu.
