Manuel spoke to the media and said that President Kevin Warren, who attended Saturday night, will also investigate the conflict. The two campus police departments have launched a joint investigation, Michigan State Police Deputy Chief Melissa Overton confirmed to The Detroit News.

Glock 19 Or 43x - First Look: Glock 43X and Glock 48 Hands-On Review [VIDEO] One of the first to get our hands on the Glock 43X and Glock 48 is a review after putting 250 rounds through each of these 9mm pistols.

Unless you've been living under a rock, you've heard about the new Glock 43X and Glock 48 that were officially announced on December 2, 2019. It's true, people took to social media and shared their thoughts on the gun. before anyone is actually seen, arrested or shot. I will admit that I was skeptical about both pistols when Glock announced them. At first glance, neither one looks like a gun that would fit into my regular outfit. But I like bright new things, so I'm looking forward to reviewing one.

I thought the first step I would have with them was at the 2019 Shot show. But luckily I was able to get my hands on them to review this week. While I wasn't excited to add more to my workout routine before heading to Vegas this Sunday, I couldn't resist the offer to try out the Glock 43X and Glock 48.

Originally, I was going to do a separate review on each of these guns, but they are so similar, I decided to combine them both into one review. The difference is that the Glock 43X is the same length as the Glock 43 and the Glock 48 is the same length as the Glock 19.

First, I want to say that I am not a Glock fanboy. But I'm also far from a Glock Hater. I now carry a Glock 19 MOS and a Glock 43 depending on what I wear that day. But I got back into carrying a Glock in early 2018. Before that, I carried a Springfield Armory XD Mod.2. I will leave the reason for conversion to another article. The XD has been my primary EDC since 2014. Before switching to the XD, I carried a Glock 26, a Glock 23 and a Taurus PT-140, which was the first pistol I carried until it broke during a weekend gun practice. . .

I only mention this to show that I am not married to one manufacturer or gun. I have owned several Berettas and love to shoot them to this day. I grew up shooting Berettas. The guns I remember my father owning were Berettas and cowboy guns, the model I don't remember. I don't carry any of them or use them as a home defense shot. They are interesting and exciting for me to shoot on the range.

With that behind us, let's get to the actual review. Here are the details on both the Glock 43X and the Glock 48. I am also adding some popular photos for comparison.

Expanding on the success of the Glock 42 .380 and Glock 43 9mm, both the Glock 43X and Glock 48 are great 9mm pistols. Glock distributes them as their Silver Slimline series. Both have a long barrel that is similar to the Glock 19. When I first saw the words "Glock 43X", I thought that this could be a long barreled Glock 43 that would be interesting. But no, they went the way of the Glock 19X making the barrel longer and the 43X swinging the same. As for the Glock 48, it's actually a slim, unique Glock 19.

The silver nPVD slider and front bezels are two other great features. Whether they will give the guns in the normal way remains to be seen. The sights on the two guns I got are standard factory sights but will also come with steel night sights.

The island group is the same as the Glock 43 with squares (or pyramids) that do not protrude like the ridges on the Gen 4 and Gen 5 models. While the Glock43X and Glock 48 are not Gen 5s, the magazines have an orange follower like the Gen 5. One thing I noticed is that the 43X fits perfectly in the holsters I have for the Glock 43.

Even if I thought one of these guns would fit into my concealed carry system, I was anxious to get into the field and shoot them. When they opened the morning after receiving them, I went to the outdoor gun closest to the house. I plan to shoot at least 250 rounds with each of them to see how they shoot, check for errors and see if shooting each of them will change my opinion. These two bullets already have about 250 rounds fired in them.

It was a cold morning in Louisiana, about 40 degrees. My fingers were already sore from a grueling jiu-jitsu class the day before, so loading 500 rounds into a 10-round magazine was uncomfortable, to say the least.

But I enjoyed both shots. I will start by saying that I have had no problems with the Glock 43X and the Glock 48. Both guns ran flawlessly and were much more accurate than mine. I quickly remembered why I need to go to the gun range to train more often, one of my 2019 resolutions.

Do I want to shoot the G43X and G48 over the G43? Yes. But for the same reasons I enjoy shooting my G19 more than my G43, it allows you to hold a full hand. The Glock 48 is also not as comfortable with a smaller barrel as the G43X. Interestingly, I seem to shoot the G43X better than the 48. While I enjoyed shooting the 43X and 48, I loaded my G19 with a Trijicon RMR Type 2 and quickly realized how much I enjoyed shooting the EDC of choice. It feels right to me.

So it boils down to the larger Glock 43 (Glock 43X) and the single barrel Glock 19 (Glock 48). As I said before, I don't think any of these will replace what I currently carry. The Glock 48 doesn't have an attachment rail and it seems too thin to put a red dot so I wouldn't trade my Glock 19 for a Glock 48 just to get less than 4mm wider. I can hide my Glock 19 most of the time. And if I can't, I carry my Glock 43. And I carry the 43 because it's the grip that makes my locker hit with my 19 in some situations. So the 43X won't interest me either.

Everyone has different needs so what works for me may not work for someone else. My wife started shooting last year, and to my surprise, she is enjoying it. Out of all my frustrations, she settled on a Springfield Armory XD that fit her perfectly. So I did a quick test with it. I told him to take my G19 and see what it was like. So I let her take the G48, and as I thought, she really liked the way it turned out. Disposable diapers just fit her little hands.

She doesn't carry concealed now but likes to shoot at the range so I think the Glock 48 would be the perfect gun for her. It can be held without using the pink attachment, which allows it to be round. And the G48 gives it a long barrel that wouldn't be there if it was a short barrel. So with her birthday coming up soon, I think Glock will get my money back.

Glock 19 Or 23 - You can't go wrong with the Glock 19 or the Glock 23. Both are great everyday carry (EDC) options and both are made by the same company known for the reliability of their rifles.

In a recent article, we compared two Glock pistols both chambered in .40 S&W to help our readers decide which is better suited. We pitted the slightly larger and more accurate Glock 22 against the slightly smaller but easier to conceal Glock 23.

We determined that, except for a few use case scenarios where the Glock 22 would be suitable, the Glock 23 would be the best choice in most situations.

But what if we compare the Glock 23 to another Glock pistol that has the exact same specs but is instead chambered for the smaller and faster 9×19mm Parabellum (more commonly called 9mm)? Will the Glock 23 still be up?

The .355 caliber round referred to today as the 9mm or "9 mill" has been around for over a century. Since its appearance in Germany in 1902, it has been used in countless wars and has been chambered in many different pistols and submachine guns (SMGs).

Its popularity has never waned, and to this day, law enforcement and military in most countries continue to use it in their sidearms and SMGs, which is a testament to its effectiveness. Here are some of the reasons:

There really isn't much difference between 15 rounds of 9mm versus 13 rounds of .40 S&W. Over the years, both have proven effective in self-defense.

The recoil of a gun determines how quickly you can fire subsequent shots and how quickly you can align the sights for a new target. Softer recoil allows you to do these things faster. In self-defense situations, your life may depend on how quickly and effectively you can do these things.

The .40 S&W tends to recoil very quickly. In comparison, the 9mm doesn't have much recoil - comparable only to a 38 Special fired in a 4 inch barrel slug gun. The lighter weight of the 9mm bullet does not "kick" like the heavier 40 S&W bullet.

Personally, I find the recoil of the .40 S&W relatively manageable, and that of the 9mm noticeably more manageable. I'd also argue that neither compares to the .44 Magnum rounds fired through a raging 6-inch Taurus—which kicks like a damn mule.

Even the recoil of a .357 Magnum, especially when fired from a 2-inch nose with thin grips, is not easily controlled. It's so bad it hurts my hand after I shoot 10 rounds of hot loaded 158 grain moving at about 1,100 fps from a short barrel.

I would be a happy camper with either a Glock 19 or Glock 23 for EDC without worrying about recoil. However, your mileage may vary.

If recoil is an issue, the Glock 19 will always be the best choice. But if with some time on the range you think you can learn to handle the quick recoil of the Glock 23, it will be a better choice.

If this is your first time buying a semi-auto pistol and you haven't tried shooting both calibers, go to your local range and try shooting their rental rifles in both .40 S&W and 9mm to see which caliber you can handle best.

If you carry a Glock 23, you can load it with any .40 S&W ammo you can get your hands on. A full metal jacket (FMJ) should be fine because due to its inherently larger bullet diameter, the .40 S&W will shoot larger holes than a 9mm.

And if .40 S&W FMJs are ok, then .40 S&W JHPs are better because they make bigger holes compared to 9mm JHPs.

But if you load your Glock 23 with FMJ, just make sure you get the Flat Nose Type Bullets (FMJ-FN). The wider the mepelate (ie the tip of the bullet), the more violent the tissue destruction, incapacitating the bad guy faster.

FMJs are usually more affordable than jacketed hollow points (JHPs). If the availability of money or ammo is an issue, the Glock 23 will be the best choice.

If you carry a Glock 19 or any 9mm pistol for that matter, it is highly recommended that you load it with JHPs, as FMJs tend to overpenetrate due to the superior velocities of the 9mm.

You don't want high-penetrating bullets hitting innocent bystanders when you have to defend yourself against an armed attacker.

FMJs for the Glock 23 will be fine in most situations, but if you have the money, why settle for FMJs when you can buy much more functional JHPs?

For the past year, I have been using the Tyrant Designs (TD) Glock 19 & 23 magazine (+5 rounds) for the Glock 19. During this time, it has continued to load consistently (except of course when used at the range), and has been my main job to reload it. Download for EDC (Every Day Carry). In the case of the 9mm G19 with a +5 mag extension, that equates to a total of 20 rounds in the stock magazine. There are two things that make Tyrant Designs' mag extension stand out: First, it's the machine action. Instead of using some type of set screw that requires a tool to tighten, or some kind of sliding locking bar to keep it in place, Tyrant's extended baseplates use a spring and piston that keeps the baseplate locked in the safe. Once it has been moved onto the magazine, the piston pops up and locks it in place. The only tool needed to remove it is something flat, like a flat tip screwdriver or the side of a knife blade to press down on the plunger to remove it. The Tyrant Designs G19 magazine insert expands 20 seconds into a standard G19 magazine. The magazine attachment is held firmly by a spring and plunger, so you don't have to worry about it falling off. So why run an extension on a G19 compact pistol? Need more rounds? Why not just carry a G17 magazine? True, you can, but that only gives you plus two over a standard 15-round magazine. The G19 magazine equipped with the Tyrant Designs Mag extension has a 20 + 1 round capacity. Sitting in the pouch and worn across the body, it has a slightly longer profile than a full-size G17 (Glock 17) magazine, so why not go for another five full rounds?
